I suppose this is a security thing so a site can't fake the user's phone desktop or something.
(If you are on an iPad it apparently partially works but puts an annoying unremovable widget on the fullscreen.-

There were a couple false starts in the betas, I presume because a ton of stuff breaks after having assumed that it doesn’t work for 15 years.
