@kaia After reading a bit more about this, it seems like the anti-wokies first shat their pants at a mildly sarcastic pro-woke tweet, and then the wokies started to shit their pants in response. Typical. :blobcat-joy:
@kyva I only saw one-sided reporting on this tbh, so my view might be distorted, but to my understanding the criticism was that they took money from game studios as a foundation dedicated to game development. and then started to have political takes?
@kyva calling folks "filth of humanity", including your titanium level backers, is just a bad look. they can do whatever they want of course, they just have to suffer the consequences.
Godot became popular in the wake of Unity engine licensing fees. it was adopted as an alternative by businesses that have no interest in involving themselves in politics.
maybe it was no wrong move ideologically, but it was an incredibly stupid business decision.
@kaia@brotka.st hahaha open donations now is translated to take money? 😂
They are so confused lol, make fun of antiwoke people and ask the 🌈 community to share they games builded with Gotod are political takes??? I mean, yes, but is the normal thing to do, right?
@icedquinn@kaia@taylan The initial problem is that they first jumped on a political circlejerking trend in the first place, and then doubled down when called out on it
I instantly knew that the circlejerking about that one wiki would end up badly because those kinda spergs in position of powers have basically 0 restraints and are usually somehow tolerated around
@taylan@kaia@coolboymew@birdulon yeah he was just shutting up and coding and the people he entrusted to run stuff went a little :ablobcatgooglytenor:
i get how this happens he just wants to live the easy life working on his little project forever and doesn't want to do stupid shit like ideological policing
@icedquinn@birdulon@kaia@taylan But really, *THAT'S* the project leader? That's the dude leading the engine where corps and individual are supposed to dedicate staff learning it and dedicate years and years of development on it? The dude that's being walked over politically right now and is pulling the "both sides" card when his official account sperged out on everyone?
@icedquinn@kaia@taylan@birdulon The problem is that there's *nothing* to *chill* about because everyone has seen the modus operandi as usual and in the end the shitshow done on the official account will simply be tolerated, and this tells everyone that this is not a serious project and that the project will be be walked all over
Again, considering that Unity is slowly going down the shitter and could change their terms for the worst anytime, having this happen to the only actual alternative is simply not funny
Oh is she not tradcon like him? I know nothing about her. (Neither do I care. Unless she's a radical feminist in which case based. But I would already know if she was.)
@Calvin@birdulon@kaia@coolboymew@taylan i paid for the painter (haven't used on a project) backwhen, but i don't think the engine was ever ready enough i considered making something with it
@coolboymew@shitposter.world@icedquinn@blob.cat@birdulon@shpposter.club@kaia@brotka.st@taylan@fedi.feministwiki.org I will take any semi-reasonable opportunity to plug armory3d.org Could have been the next big thing by now if Patreon hadn't fucked it over by refunding everyone who supported it. But, it's still chugging along and just got a new voxel-based Global Illumination feature added. And, so far, no politics. Partly because it's not "le popular" and doesn't have a swarm of "prideful" indie devs flocking to it.
