But when it comes to other industries, the government can force the business to make products and retool — Ford... you're gonna make Tank treads for the next four years — but they have to be properly compensated and I don't believe that the employees can be forced to work. -

I looked at this a long time ago, and I recall that Doctors have been conscripted to provide aid in both military and civilian contexts and the court upheld it. Attorney conscription has typically been in the civil / criminal context where the government chooses the client and forces representation. That's also been upheld. -

I haven't look at it specifically, but I assume employees can still "quit," but can't "strike," i.e. they'd lose their union benefits / protections. -
