     @WarnerCrocker guess we're at the stage of the Climate Crisis were the Oligarch Media downplays the destruction of Climate Change so us proles don't get angry at the right people.

     @tutormentor1 Good stuff. I lived through this kind of devastation in 1969 and the aftemath of Hurricane Camille in central Va. Took us forerver to recover.

     @WarnerCrocker THANKS for alerting people to this calamity.

     My brother in western NC is a ham radio operator. He and colleagues are the ONLY means of communication for thousands of people stranded by Helene. They can't call out of the region or even check on family and friends nearby. Cell service gone, internet and e-mail out, landlines gone, power water and sewer systems down, roadways washed out including interstate highways. Govt says "All highways are closed."

     Please help, people!

     @WarnerCrocker All roads in and out of the area have also been closed due to the destruction caused by flooding / safety concerns.

     The media went to Florida. It takes a lot of local knowledge to know how bad flooding can be in WNC. I've posted separately about the NC National Guard stand-up. I'm sure there is more info by now.
