@a1ba I could write a dissertation about the different groups and what's different between them but the people that need to read it wouldn't read it.

@a1ba you could say he's right wing (maybe even "far right") and you'd be correct, but if you start giving specific labels to people you need to get it right if you're supposed to be correct or useful information like wikipedia purports to be

@a1ba I quit contributing to wikipedia years ago because it got taken over by insane people. it probably definitionally has never been "trustworthy" but at a point in the distant past editors and supereditors tried to apply the rules fairly. this was before it became mainstream and became a target for astroturfing.

@sun if you know the actual difference and can provide a source, why not to try arguing with Wikipedia editors then.
If you really wanna to, of course.

@a1ba if I had infinite time I would document specifics of how wikipedia is manipulated. I used and contributed to it regularly from 2001 to 2015 or so.

@sun @a1ba yeah, other than basic fixes Wikipedia is just not worth it.
Other wikimedia projects like wikidata and wiktionary at least seem to have much less bullshit going on due to a more factual angle at least.

@N33R the term alt-right is deceptive because it doesn't actually mean "alternative to the mainstream right". Also the movement got co-opted after a number of years by different groups so it's a meaningless term now.

@sun if you consider the Kaiser the normal right that makes Hitler alt-right too

@lanodan @a1ba Wikipedia is also downstream of media because it forbids original research, so the decline of the quality of journalism has hurt it.

@lanodan @a1ba I am actively trying to avoid consuming new political media but I still get upset based on things I already know.

@sun @a1ba @lanodan I've just stopped paying attention. I'm still going to be broke no matter who wins and it's not like any candidate is going to do anything to help me accomplish my autism goals, so

@amerika @N33R It's like "alternative music" from the 90s. It's an alternative but it's not every alternative, the term means a specific kind of music.

> it doesn't actually mean "alternative to the mainstream right"
Please explain. It was certainly an alternative to the Bush-era "right."
