   So where am I?

   In a state of limbo.

   I have decided am not going to keep using Sharkey. The plan was to export my data and move to another Fedi instance. The problem is the Fediverse, will let you export your data, but at the moment you can only import into Sharkey.

   WTF?! What is the point of exporting, if you have nowhere to import too?!

   For example, you can export your post on Mastodon, but you cannot import your post on another Mastodon server.

     With nowhere to port into, the plan was to archive my content, save it for the future and hope another development would allow importing.

     In the meantime, that means starting over on another Fedi instance.

     That is not ideal, because when you move, you tend to lose a few followers along the way. Usually, because whatever Fedi instance you join, may have issues with another Fedi instance.

     For example, there are a lot of instances that silence Mastodon dot Social.

     So moving between Fedi instance is not without its risk.

     I once had nearly 3,000 followers, when I 1st joined the Fediverse. But moving around, trying to find what I was looking for, has taken its toll.

     @Linux currently has almost 1,000 followers. And it has taken me a while to get back to that.

     If I wanted to shout into the void, by my lonesome, I would have started a WordPress site. I think that is true for many people here.

     The Fediverse suffers from fragmentation too.

     As I said, earlier, switching between Fedi instances is not without its risk. Much of it person between Fedi instances (usually drama related).

     It is also the software platforms too. Although they're all using Activity Pub (ActivityPub), some of the API's process and prioritize content differently.

     I can follow the same people on Mastodon and Misskey and end up with 2 different timelines.

     Only Sharkey allows you to import your post at the moment.

     The problem with Sharkey is they suck!

     The current version, 2023.8.1 is slow. The development, filled with toxic people. The previous lead stole the server that was gifted to the development (along with any extra money), before leaving.

     You do not want to get caught up with the nonsense that is Sharkey.
