     Like sure these probably very targeted attacks but if they happen more often the chance of these devices accidentally ending up in places outside of the intended, like in the hands of civilians will be huge. Playing really dangerous games here.

     @k1tteh@uwu.social Israel managed to put explosives inside thousands of pagers and walkie talkies bought by Hezbollah. Today and yesterday they detonated the devices, most likely using some remote backdoor, killing a bunch of people and injuring hundreds.

     Older stuff tends to not make free software cryptographically impossible also.

     @SuperDicq There's countless numbers of old devices just sitting there unused, so it'll take a long time before someone will strictly have to buy a new one.
     
     Typically the Zionist explosive would be set to explode after a few weeks or months, rather than several years.
     
     Unfortunately there's nothing I can do to stop people from buying new hardware without even a schematic.

     even targeted as they were, they made collateral victims, and who knows how many more they can make if any devices remained operational and end up exploding in innocent hands? israel has shown time and again that it doesn't care at all about innocent collateral victims, so it's up to the rest of the world to send them a clear message that this is intolerable
