So that's it. I'm politically homeless. SNP have chosen to cut investment in the arts, nature, active travel, winter fuel allowance, and public transport. They can absolutely just fuck the fuck off. What's the point of them if they just follow the UK Government in everything they do? #scunnered #Scotland #theSNP has lost the plot.

Mrs Cloudy (cloudymrs@mastodon.scot)'s status on Wednesday, 04-Sep-2024 05:52:18 JST Mrs Cloudy They're saying they're continuing to invest in behaviour change and active travel infrastructure, but they cut funding last year, without warning to those who had been delivering those things for years, in favour of who or what, nobody knows. There doesn't seem to be any explicable plan.

Patrick Hadfield (patrickhadfield@mastodon.scot)'s status on Wednesday, 04-Sep-2024 05:55:09 JST Patrick Hadfield @CloudyMrs they haven't done everything the Westminster govt does. They've put up income tax (and I'm pleased to pay it).
But yeah, the cuts suck.

Charlie Stross (cstross@wandering.shop)'s status on Wednesday, 04-Sep-2024 05:55:45 JST Charlie Stross @CloudyMrs The Scottish budget is set by the Treasury in Westminster. They're prescribing cuts for *everybody*. The Scottish government is going along with this because they don't have any choice—any other course would be illegal, they're not doing it happily or willingly.
(This should be an argument for independence right now, but it'll fall on mostly-deaf ears …)

Clutha🏴 (clutha@mastodon.scot)'s status on Wednesday, 04-Sep-2024 06:09:20 JST Clutha🏴 @CloudyMrs Don’t you get it that Scotlands budget is controlled by Westminster?
When Indy supporters blame ScotGov I wonder why they don’t understand the basics of devolution. -

A wise politician, (labour used to have a few) said ‘power devolved is power retained’.
Where we are proves they were correct.
If ScotGov gets a budget cut services will obviously suffer.
I hope the weirdo’s who chose Labour recently will put 2 & 2 together when prescriptions started costing, when free bus travel vanishes.
Maybe, just maybe some will wise up. -
