     GTA IV is just not as good as GTA SA.
     Halo 3 also wasn't as good as Halo 2.
     Crysis is just a tech demo pretending to be a video game.
     
     The Orange Box was fire tho.

     @hj@shigusegubu.club I personally think GTA SA is the best game in the 3D era of GTA.
     
     It has an insane map size and stuff to do for a game limited by PS2 hardware. It is actually a super impressive technical feat.
     
     I also think GTA SA also has the most memorable cast of characters and the most quotable lines of dialogue of the entire series, even though the writing gets a bit weird towards the end of the game.
     
     On top of that the GTA SA modding scene for PC is absolutely insane and is still going strong even today.

     @Reiddragon@fedi.reimu.info @hj@shigusegubu.club Yeah, if you play GTA SA it is quite evident that they were running out of time on the last chapters and they kinda rushed it. Especially forcing you to grind gang warfare before being allowed to do the final mission felt like such a lazy move.
     
     Still an amazing game, especially LS and SF are peak.

     @SuperDicq @hj the last act of the game is def really weird with all the focus on gang warfare; the Las Venturas act is also a tad weird, really feels like it lost track of what the main conflict of the game was on the writing side, and mechanically the city is really underutilised for missions
     
     Great game, tho, before R* were bustas selling shark cards and GTA+ subscriptions

     Insanely boring and unappealing map with barely anything to do. It also forcibly relocates you to even more boring part of the map at some point.

     they compressed the game to run on PS2, woohoo I guess. Never known nor cared about PS2 version, only PC. When you think of PC version all of that "technically impressive" stuff instantly evaporates.

     I only remember big smoke because he's a meme and "aw shit here we go again" which is also a meme. I remember some other lines but only "badly translated to russian" versions of them.
     
     Meanwhile I remember a lot of characters from VC: Tommy himself is such a character, Lance Vance, that jewish Attorney, cowboy proprietor with big hat, some military general dude, the cuban NPCs who never stop talking about cojones.

     Well yeah, it's the most latest and most advanced version of the same game engine.
     
     SA has the most boring story, further worsened by game taking itself way too seriously which somehow became a staple of series, compared to somewhat bombastic and semi-serious vice city and 3 as well 2. gta 4 had some promise maybe there'd be some slav antics or something but it gets back to being boring and serious quickly. And five... five has boring nigga, boring cracker, funny schizo; an improvement for sure.

     @hj@shigusegubu.club I do think SA aged badly. If you played at any later point you wouldn't think too much of it because everything this game does there's another game that does it better.
     
     But on release day, there was no game like GTA SA.

     @lanodan@queer.hacktivis.me Also I can't really say that a specific year for anime was the best because at the time I was never able to watch the anime that were actually relevant because things never received subs at the time it was airing, always way after the fact.
     
     You would always get stuff years later (unless there was a 4kids adaptation or some bullshit like that), while all these video games I actually played at the time they were relevant.

     Pretty sure I've at least read some chapters of the manga but IIRC what's different is the ending.

     K-On, Lucky Star, Gurren Lagann, Haruhi, Hidamari Sketch, Spice and Wolf, Fairy Tale, To Love-Ru, Clannad.
