@loren aha! Nice ID, thanks for that. It just started flapping its wings and made it a couple inches off the ground, so hopefully it will figure out this whole flying thing and return to the nest soon.

Juvenile swifts do not have a fledgling phase. As soon as they're ready, after hours and hours of exercising, nestlings fly straight from the nest up in the sky. Therefore, a swift on the ground does always need help. And if I'm right, your lil' buddy might need help too.

If they are unable to take off from the ground, they need a professional caretaker. And if they came in contact with cat saliva, even without a visible injury, they need antibiotics from a vet within 24 hours.

If it were a swift, I could give you more valid info. Other than this species, swallows continue to feed their offspring after leaving the nest. But I think, they should be able to fly properly by then.
