   the criticism of many women regarding LotR not including enough women is silly. the book is entirely male-brained about honor, dying for the country, defending your loved ones, male friendships. you can't include women in a boys' club.

     @kaia It's also silly because he did include women in it. One of them even goes to war on horseback. Another one is a powerful Queen. I don't know what they were expecting.

     @kaia iirc Dune was (wrongly) criticized by some feminist because the Bene Gesserit were described as evil witches. It’s just that they are strong indpendent women, which makes men scared of them.

     Anyway, at least Dune is a well-written book, unlike Lord of the Rings.

     @bartholin I always thought Dune was stylistically worse than LotR. especially the 2nd and other books that completely go off the rails.
