@sun Why are zoomers so averse to them in films to begin with? I understand disliking sex scenes as a kid as much because I didn't when I was younger, but your palate is supposed to evolve with age, not devolve. I don't hate them anymore, and can usually point out why they are where they are instead of going "agh, so unnecessary bla bla bla"
@gonnefishin@mischievoustomato it's a fundamental expression of humanity and thus doesn't even need further justification for being included in an artistic work than any other human expression.
@mischievoustomato@sun They're included to convey intense passion or emotion. They're included to further a character's motivation or ideology. A ton of different reasons why a sex scene can be used as a plot device, it's never intended to be uncomfortable but the only reason I could see it being that way is if one hated sex to begin with. And for that I think there needs to be introspection on *why* one would hate sex.
@sun@gonnefishin As a zoomer that watches movies (with mum) that sometimes have sex scenes in them (not what we go for, but some action movies have them), it's uncomfortable and feels odd. Even without mum it feels weird. Now, I don't mind stuff like fan service (shots that show a woman's body or light/sexy clothing).
@gonnefishin@mischievoustomato@sun you are wrong. sex scenes cannot be written in an artful way. fucking is universally pornographic. you have a maximum of 5 seconds before it stops being artful. any important emotions and character development CAN and WILL be shown before or after the act of sex. and i say WILL because it DOES, your 10 minute bare ass fuck scene doesnt show anything besides "there was a sex".
@sun@gonnefishin@mischievoustomato youre agreeing with me. the sex is not shown, only enough information that "there was a sex". a subsequent sex scene would be pornographic and not important to any character development beyond what is shown in the foreplay or afterwards.
