@GluedToTheScreen
Because our understanding of reality changed
@zephyrotv @amerika
It's been a long time for me...
... WHY was it changed?
Read it...
@GluedToTheScreen @zephyrotv @amerika Do you mean that the states will decide either by congress or by a convention of governors?
@GluedToTheScreen
So how will the constitution be decided?
@zephyrotv @amerika
A basic REPUBLIC might be worth a try...
@kpeace
... by basic, I mean minimum GOV and focusing on true objectives as constrained in the Constitution.
I'm referring to the IDEA. It is a collectivist perspective which directly counters the foundation of the USA, which is (supposed to be) about individualism.
The vast majority of people do not understand the word "democracy" nor the real implications of such an approach to GOVERNMENT.
Democracy must perish.
It's a misguided notion. Stop it.
@GluedToTheScreen
What alternative are you proposing?
@zephyrotv @amerika
@amerika
The constitution, as a governing document of the states, is changed by the states after congers proposes changes.
Technically that form of government is an oligarchy. The Senate originally was an oligarchy.
Congress was supposed to be a mix of democracy and oligarchy, as proposed by Aristotle.
Are you proposing to abolish the house of representatives or restore the Senate to its former form?
@Humpleupagus @GluedToTheScreen @zephyrotv
How do you feel about the credibility of WHEN?
I mean, as we know it...
... not some alternate timeline hypothesis.
@Humpleupagus @amerika @kpeace @zephyrotv
Who claimed "the people" changed it?
Yet it changed.
I'm old and have read about most sides of "recorded history ". It's seldom clear WHY something happened. Sometimes, we can learn HOW.
AND, of course, these days we've learned not to trust the WHAT and WHO.
@amerika
Abolish? I don't think that's a good idea.
Sec 1 - change so that every person born to leagle resident of the US is a citizen.
Sec 2 - change so that every person who pays net taxes (tax - welfare), is counted.
Sec 3 - abolish
Sec 4 - don't change
@Lyx @Humpleupagus @GluedToTheScreen @zephyrotv
@Humpleupagus
A convention is a convention of governors, so it's also a semi oligarchy.
My point is that the US is a mixture of democracy and oligarchy, just like Aristotle advised. I am trying to understand, if you think democracy is bad, how will the federal government look like?
@amerika @GluedToTheScreen @zephyrotv
Stop mPox where it starts...
@chainsaw_appreciator
... no more butt sex.
