iced depresso (icedquinn@blob.cat)'s status on Friday, 16-Aug-2024 22:44:05 JST iced depresso wonder why fosi puts bluetooth in almost everything and doesn't give you the option to turn it off :blobcatwaitwhat2:

iced depresso (icedquinn@blob.cat)'s status on Friday, 16-Aug-2024 22:54:27 JST iced depresso @Jessica i guess i'm just more worried about EMCON than everyone else :blobcatgooglynotlikethis:
i don't want people to be able to randomly pair to my shit. especially because you can literally just pair to it if you can connect to it, and it cuts off the aux line.
it does sound nice and work though it doesn't make any line noise until >80% on the volume knob -

iced depresso (icedquinn@blob.cat)'s status on Friday, 16-Aug-2024 22:59:51 JST iced depresso @Jessica yeah i don't think i'm going to return it or anything. i don't think its going to pierce the walls or anything. but like. i also just don't want it doing this all the time.
if i do want bluetooth i will turn on the edifier (which does LDAC) or the earfun (which does AAC) and otherwise don't need to be irradiated by some useless SBC-only rig. :blobcatgooglynotlikethis: oh well. -

Jessica's new Main (jessica@kitsunes.club)'s status on Friday, 16-Aug-2024 22:59:52 JST Jessica's new Main @icedquinn@blob.cat I had an TOSlink to 3.5mm/RCA jack adapter and it would completely turn off the optical input for 30 seconds after you started it just to look for a bluetooth device. there was no reason for this to even exist as it's always searching anyways... the only reason I wanted it was because I was hooking to computer speakers and wanted a remote control, which ended up having volume levels I couldn't much use because the volume steps were too big..
I ended up swapping it out with a dumb one that works about as well and just using a 3.5mm attenuator knob -

iced depresso (icedquinn@blob.cat)'s status on Friday, 16-Aug-2024 23:09:38 JST iced depresso @Jessica yeah. a lot of the cheapy ones have hardlined the bluetooth. this is very stupid because a dip switch is cheap and wanting turn off emissions is reasonable.
like you wouldn't want random-ass iphones being able to shut down a DJ booth just because some doink clicked on the speaker. -

Jessica's new Main (jessica@kitsunes.club)'s status on Friday, 16-Aug-2024 23:09:39 JST Jessica's new Main @icedquinn@blob.cat Per fosi's official support page "The Bluetooth functionality cannot be disabled. However, you can try removing the antenna (if included) and covering the amplifier with a metal shell to shorten the connection distance. Also, please try turning off the amplifier, powering it back on, and then reconnecting your devices.
Some of our products feature a mode switch button. In the upgraded version, BT20A PRO and MC101, you can disconnect a previously connected Bluetooth device by long-pressing the volume button for 5 seconds."

iced depresso (icedquinn@blob.cat)'s status on Friday, 16-Aug-2024 23:13:19 JST iced depresso @Jessica yeah.
i almost got one from pyle. i think they have a similar issue but some models do let you use a push toggle for bluetooth.
the BT*0A's are pretty popular little things though. i used it to make a sound bar with micca OoO's† for a TV and it sounds very good. i've had "real" sound bars before and they.. sound cheap.
†yes they really caterpillared the name -
