Phew, looks like Ilhan Omar held off yet another primary challenge from perennial creepazoid Don Samuels (and by 13 points):

This is more or less expected, but after Cori Bush getting primaried and a surprising close call with Samuels back in 2022, it’s a big relief. I really like having Omar as my rep, and Samuels is just •unbelievably• skin-crawly.

If you read Kritzer’s description of Don Samuels and wonder how the hell this guy ever, ever managed to get on a ballot, much less repeatedly, much less pull 43% of the vote, well…
…congrats, now you know what Minneapolis politics are like. It's all Democrats, but there are effectively two parties: one that's very Ilhan-Omar-y, and one that's like the HOA board teamed up with Bill Cosby to overfund the police. It's a hoot.

Um, I’d describe Walz and Ellison as trying to win statewide elections? I’m speaking here of politics within the city.
Regardless, that’s missing the forest for the trees. The point is that every electorate has its own divisions and fault lines, and forms its own factions. There is no “Democrats think” or “Democrats do;” there are just a whole bunch of people, forming and breaking coalitions all the time.

TBH, the first time I respected Ilhan Omar is when she had the guts to feature Joe Biden's endorsement in her first campaign commercial days after the debate.
