   the thing about /r/wallstreetbets folks who show their $1.6m gains by gambling is that they cannot stop. they won so much money that they could check out, but they don't. they'll gamble on until their next post to /r/wallstreetbets is a "I lost it all"

     Either i win more, ore i lose the $0.4m. Doesnt really matter in those ranges.

     @kaia@brotka.st and even posts losing it all get engagement, so it might encourage them to keep going. Wall street bet rewards people for gambling, no matter whether they win or lose big.

     @iro_miya yeah, but the loss porn is very attractive to other people equally gambling and losing, just not sums so large. they can go "yeah, I lost, but not so much as this poor sod!"

     @kaia If they set aside 1M, that's 1M that's not generating money in whatever they think the next sure bet is.

     I'm not justifying it - what they're doing is financially destructive and I'm more of a long-term investments person, but I kinda get why it seems obvious to cash out and yet they don't.
