Sick Sun (sun@shitposter.world)'s status on Tuesday, 06-Aug-2024 00:35:00 JST Sick Sun my assumption is that I will work until I die of old age, there won't be any retirement. both because I don't yet feel like stopping doing stuff and because it won't be economically possible anyway. -

I think the most logical thing to do to be close to retirement is to have a self sustainable home, something that cost you so little that even if you don't have much of a pension. ~BitBun~ :bunRetro: (bitbun@raru.re)'s status on Tuesday, 06-Aug-2024 00:42:27 JST ~BitBun~ :bunRetro: @sun yeah, good to not get too excited about things that are hard to control like that. I'm still trying to prepare for it to give myself the best chance, but it might blow up in my face - who knows.
For me, I don't really look at retirement as stopping doing things though. I look at it as "can try doing something you want to do that might not pan out", which I'd like to try some of my own things at least once before I die.

Sick Sun (sun@shitposter.world)'s status on Tuesday, 06-Aug-2024 00:43:48 JST Sick Sun @BitBun i am in a weird situation where my last three jobs were what I would want to be doing anyway. there's a good chance that that streak will be broken at some point and I'll hate working again and wish for "retirement" when I can do what I want to do. -

受不了包 (shibao@misskey.bubbletea.dev)'s status on Tuesday, 06-Aug-2024 01:29:34 JST 受不了包 @sun@shitposter.world honestly i feel like just paying off a house will be "retirement" for my generation because base living expenses will be way lower compared to now once that happens
i feel like your options open up a lot more once that happens, you can just do some small stuff on the side and break even vs needing to pay a ton of money every month to landlor -

Few of us have the investment nest egg required, and social security hasn't caught up with housing costs.
