   Okay but on some level you do have to admit that it's pretty funny that Republican muppet-wranglers like that fundie fascist freak Mike Johnson came out and were like "look man, this is election season, you absolutely have to tone it down with the open racism because it's going to make it hard to trick anyone but us cracker supremacists into voting for us otherwise" and then like a week later Trump is at a Black Journalists convention saying "is Harris even Black" and going full cracker racist.

     I mean is it also horrible? Sure. But I like to imagine that night Johnson went to his study, locked the door, and downed two whole bottles of expensive whiskey while repeatedly asking God why he's been forsaken.

     And naturally of course, all these littler less important fascists saw Trump doing exactly what Johnson and GOP leadership told them not to do and went "well fuck that, if Donnie gets to be as racist as he wants to be Imma be my authentic racist ass self too."

     There are no upsides to Trump and a fascist movement in our society, but I do on some level appreciate not having to explain WHY they're racists to folks who don't know shit anymore. "Just read what they said my dude. Wtf?"

     As an aside this also makes it a lot easier to identify crypto-racists, because like their two best plays are "you can't hold leaders/officials responsible for what some random online/street nazi says" and "is it really racist tho, I think he meant..."

     So when the leaders of this movement are just letting their cracker flag fly, the folks defending it are basically reduced to saying "it's not racist till he puts on the white robe and dunce cap" - no need to put effort into finding out if that person is just ignorant and absurdly in their feels about whiteness anymore. They're pretty obviously just racist themselves, defending racist leaders doing racism.

     Again it's not an "upside" but it does make dealing with them a bit easier.

     @AnarchoNinaWrites I'd like to think it would be infinitesimally better, but it seems the Republican Party has the algorithm for finding even worse people than the ones that came before them heavily optimized, so I'm skeptical of my first impulse.

     Because off the back of that interview, he's nonstop said things about how she's not Black enough, amplifying the message (never back down).

     And tomorrow he takes the stage in....atlanta.

     There is absolutely no way he doesn't bang that drum, in the middle of Atlanta, Georgia. He's going to wander off topic when he sees something shiny, and just go straight for outrageously offensive.
