   Yea...this happens at least half of the time...and then people wonder why I don't feel good and can't get shit done.

   The meds are only effective if you take them, and then if you take them too much, they also are less effective. Why can't we just have ADHD meds that are just simply effective?😩

     @BeAware AH yeah, the "sorry, our shipment arrived late so we can't fill your adderal script for a week" followed 29 days later with "no you can't pick up your scrip during your usual stop because it's a day early".

     🤦🏼♂️

     Also had to fire a Dr. a few years back because he insisted the slightly elevated BP (which I had since I was 16, 15 YEARS before I started taking stimulants) was being caused by them, despite my pressure DROPPING when I took them 🤯

     @BeAware I burst into tears when my new Dr. was like "you don't suddenly stop needing meds for ADHD just because you turned 60!" because it was almost word for word what I kept telling the other idiot with a medical degree.

     One thing that's helped me is the online ADHD/Autistic Spectrum community posting stuff like this to just let us all know we're not crazy thinking this is happening.

     @BeAware My favorite is the old saw how ADHD medicines turn kids into zombies. The dumb F doesn't get that most of them are freakin' stimulants.

     @Ralph058 yeah...I'm definitely not a zombie when I can take it effectively.

     I can take it for 4-5 days in a row before I need to take a day or two off. If I don't take a day or two off, anxiety eventually builds back up and I'm about as useful as if I didn't take it.

     However, if I DO get those days off and take it effectively, it's amazing. I feel like a completely different person when it works effectively and I can actually socialize and get things done without wanting to smash my head into a wall at high velocity.

     @BeAware Hell, few of the psychiatrists get that there's a sweet spot. IMHO. They should ramp up the dose until you get anxiety and then back it off until ADHD returns and set the dose halfway in between.
     My SIL got on a new med for something and had to get off of her ADHD medicine. She realized she was taking way too much because she felt better with none. Her doctor had been ramping up the dose to make it work better.
     I can't take the stimulants any more because I suffer from tachycardia.
     So, I'm on Stratera but we've been diddling with the time of day to take it. I take it in the morning and I spend the afternoon being drowsy. I take it at bedtime and it keeps me up. I'm having a hell of a time remembering to take it around 4PM. I'm going to dig out one of those daily pill things and set a reminder on my phone.

     @BeAware Because sadly the brain and what the meds are actually effecting are not an exact science. To be honest, I'm pretty sure most of are less of we know why this does this to more of "oh hey, on a lot of people it seems to cause this reaction....we have no clue why" This unfortunately can make it absolutely maddening to find one that actually works for you. But it's also a complete misunderstanding, most of the of those that need it for ADHD it reacts differently in their brains anyway.

     Well it's indeed addictive, i guess if you'll leave your adhd meds with me for 5 minutes i'll eat the whole pack and be coding for the next 48hours without a sleep 😀

     I am a former drug addict, i used to use meth in really large amounts due to tolerance, i suppose i would just get high.

     Though i haven't used it for quite a time, maybe i'm not that tolerant to psychostimulants right now 🤔

     When i used it, the biggest problem for me was that i went crazy quickly because of it. Like, paranoid schizophrenic level of insanity, i had hallucinations of chinese communist spies installing their spy robots in my vent, i thought it is real and that was megascary. That was the main reason i quit
