Awwww crap, Linux is lagging the fuck out for no reasons and this is an awful time for it to happen, I literally do not have the fucking time for this right now

@coolboymew @condret Temps all normal? Voltages? Any chance a fan quit or heatsink came unmounted?

@condret anywhere, it's not just the mouse that's lagging, it's the entire system

@condret really fucking pissed because the vacations starts now. The PC is almost unusable at it is. I can browse the net just fine but I cannot watch videos worth a shit

@coolboymew you mean watching videos in the browser?

@coolboymew faulty hardware then?
-

@condret very likely, I booted into an old MX Linux install and the exact same issue was there
Either there's a disk that's mounted that's causing this, or it's deeper than that (mobo, GPU, most likely)

@coolboymew @condret Reseated RAM and all that normal stuff, right? I know this sounds crazy, but have you checked your heat sync to make sure it's properly mounted? My buddy's i7 crapped out and it was related to thermal paste wearing off one side of the chip and getting uneven cooling.

@BowsacNoodle @condret temps seemed okay, but I have no idea about the voltage

@ooignignoktoo @condret @coolboymew I think it's thermal throttling as well. Same thing happened to my friend. His system was gorfed by it unfortunately :gorf2:

@coolboymew @condret
When was the last time the cpu and GPU were repasted ? Hardware could be thermal throttling. 6th gen intel chipsets were 2015ish hardware and while that is past the capacitor plague era there is a possibility that there could be a dying/faulty capacitor on the mobo/gpu. Do any of the caps on your board look to be bulging ?

@condret @coolboymew @ooignignoktoo He was totally fine and then one day his computer froze up in a game. Then it started to happen right away until he could barely use it. This was over the course of a few days.

@BowsacNoodle @coolboymew @ooignignoktoo did it happen from one day to the other? yeah sure thermal paste degradation is a thing, but doesn't it happen slowly over time?

@condret @BowsacNoodle @ooignignoktoo impossible to check thermal paste right now, the cooler was said to be "compatible" but it was such a tight fit that I'm not sure I'll ever be able to yank it out
No bloated caps either
CPU temps looks totally normal too

I figured it could have been the bluetooth adapters, but even with them remove and a proper keyboard and mouse connected behind, it still does it
It does it on the New AND old Mx Linux install, there's no reasons why it would do it on the old. And while Windows isn't as affected, there does seem to be mouse stutter on that side too somehow

Not a good temp in idle I suppose, but it's not sky high either

@coolboymew @condret @ooignignoktoo Got any backup equipment or friends with similar hardware you can try to swap out and see? Did you check your disk speeds and make sure it's not that? Any chance of malware or other peripherals causing this? I'm at a loss for what might work at this point.
