   This amazing and •brutal• video from @skykiss deserves special attention, because it does something that the opposition regularly fails to do with videos of Trump:

   It doesn't just let his awfulness speak for itself. It adds a visible+audible negative reaction, every single time.

   Please, everyone, do that.

     One of the mistakes the Clinton campaign made was running ads that were just Trump saying awful things, with no further commentary. Turns out spreading his message for him isn’t a great idea.

     My extremely perceptive mom often remarks that, awful as it is, there’s something about the •sound• of Trump’s voice that's hypnotic. For the susceptible, the sound — not meaning, but sound — of his word soup becomes a hypnotic spell.

     The relentless buzzer in that video breaks the spell. 👍 👍

     @inthehands That's a thing I've never understood. Every time I hear his voice I want to throw things. He's always whiny, affronted, defensive... he has the voice of the worst employee you've ever had, the one who sneaks off to take naps on work time and then complains to all the guys he's somehow conned into thinking he's a big shot that it's your fault he has to stealth-nap, because you don't give him enough nap breaks. I quit listening to NPR from 2017-2020 so I wouldn't have to hear him.

     I agree completely and have that same reaction. I think it’s pretty hard for those of us who instantly pick up on all the loathsome things about him to understand, but (as is so often the case) I really think my mom is on to something. Hypnosis is voluntary, and for those who are receptive to Trump as an idea, the hypnotic qualities of his voice are almost addictive. The very same qualities of the sound that make us ill function as a drug for others.
