@PurpCat@KaiserKitty@hj@mangeurdenuage Why are Nissan drivers this bad? I'm scared because I drive a Nissan, and given stereotypes around people like me and driving, I might be part of the problem, lol.
@m0xee@mangeurdenuage i don't want to deal with TypeScript, Azure, Skype, Teams, other people using Windows, Skype, whatever the fuck they come up in the future (DirectX 13?), the occasional need to use Windows (10) for VR and trucksim needs
@hj@mangeurdenuage Why do people still have a problem with MS? It used to be different, but nowadays in most cases you can just not use their shit — that's it, problem solved! Unlike with Google — I don't want to deal with neither of WebPee, Brotli, QUIC, protobuf, GRPC and whatnot — yet a lot of software that seemingly has nothing to do with Google and in some cases with Web in general, attempts to shove all this down my throat 😩
@m0xee@mangeurdenuage microsoft stuff is also still cancer, even though it's seemingly contained to "work environment" it still seeps outside of it and smells horribly.
TypeScript is typical (sic) microsoft experience - you write garbage code, you get confusing error messages and whole thing isn't even meant to be good in the first place all while people who have comically large skill issue say that it's better than JS and that it's a must-have.
Oh and let's not forget that Bing is still the backbone of "free" search engines like DDG.
Worst part is that people think that microsoft somehow "changed" and "is actually good now", but reality is that it's still the same, it's an invasive business bureaucracy machine that spreads its tendrils to grasp on whatever it can get a hold on, it WILL EEE your software and workflow, it might be gentle now and it seems like a friendly hug but it WILL start choking and manipulating you. It might not be in your field now but it is in its considerations. They just wait until generations pass and everyone forgets their crimes so that they can strike again when no one is expecting.
@hj > TypeScript Ha-ha-ha-ha! I had no idea we can thank MS for this one. I've never used it, but it doesn't even seem… microsoftish to me 🤪 And yeah, valid point — in the work environment you still have to deal with MS a lot, but that's work — it'd never be all about pleasure. With personal computing you can avoid dealing with MS entirely these days, again unlike Google — their stuff is like cancer, I put a great deal of effort into avoiding it entirely and I still can't 😞
@mangeurdenuage@pyrate@m0xee boomers actually can, the problem in corporate sector usually is that it's either Microsoftshit, Amazonshit or Googleshit, because getting stuff on-prem is too much investment (in HR mostly) and too much risk and responsibility.
@hj@mangeurdenuage@m0xee the existence of microsoft windows and its prevalence means I have to use proton to play PC games. The only way that stops is the end of windows, and wine to run a number of programs. Also sometimes I have to use computers that aren't my own, yk a lot of workplaces use them, and that means I do actually *need* to use their shit. Windows is not optional for a huge number of people, and that is not acceptable.
@salt@hj@m0xee > Windows is not optional for a huge number of people Wrong, windows is optional for a huge number of people because a huge number of people don't play video games. They just browser the web, need a document editor, pdf reader, print and see pictures/videos, this is what the majority of the userbase is.
@mangeurdenuage@salt Almost all video games on almost all platforms now runs on GNU/Linux now, even though that's not necessarily a good things as most of those are proprietary.
Some proprietary games sometimes break in WINE+DVXK+esync due to proprietary software developer incompetence, but that seems to rapidly be fixed or worked around, due to any the degenerates with "steam decks".
People when given the option to install windows themselves or run GNU and receive unparalleled support quite interestingly choose to keep running GNU instead of installing windows.
