     They have been told that their god demands they forcibly eradicate all disobedience of their religion's commands, up to and including killing those who disobey, and that their god will punish them with infinite torture should they fail to do so.

     Seems awfully convenient for whichever long-dead desert warlord concocted this belief system, doesn't it?
