In 2020, when asked specifically about the two official languages, 32,154 residents (56.8% of the population) mentioned German as their principal language, while 24,376 (43.2%) mentioned French.-

Interesting. I didn't know about Bienne/Biel's bilinguality, new for me.In the whole country there is (after a statistics I saw for a while ago)
65,6 % German
22,8 % French
8,4 % Italian

The Italian amount was a surprise for me, too. But there is a multilinguality on the both sides of the border, indeed.kaia likes this.
