iced depresso (icedquinn@blob.cat)'s status on Sunday, 21-Jul-2024 13:43:02 JST iced depresso at some point buying a proper zoom lens is cheaper than having lenses of different mm ratings.
granted, the fixed lenses have size/weight advantages.-

Fixed ones always have better f ratios (more light). However with modern cameras those aren't that important anymore so zoom lenses win in practicality.
And like you said buying one quality zoom lens is probably better than five cheap fixed ones. -

iced depresso (icedquinn@blob.cat)'s status on Sunday, 21-Jul-2024 15:39:31 JST iced depresso @susie zooms tend to add weight and bulk, to the point where some of those end up with people having to add rails to the rig for lens support, but eh. i don't have one because they tend to be around 400$, and i thought the cheap lens would be good enough for now.
the lens is actually fine but i don't work in environments where this amount of zoom is practicable. i'm used to the gopro's complete lack of zoom, that i didn't think i'd ever actually need a macro lens specifically :blobcatgoogly: -

Oh right, video stuff has different needs! Yeah those lenses can get crazy big.
As for the 35mm, just take couple steps back :ablobcat3dverified: (I'm sorry)iced depresso likes this. -

iced depresso (icedquinn@blob.cat)'s status on Sunday, 21-Jul-2024 15:44:55 JST iced depresso @susie i still have to see if the ball joints alone are strong enough to hold the BMPCC. i don't take it out of its cage, so that adds a pound or two to the weight.
the 7.5mm is a fisheye though, so yet more postprocessing :blobcatgooglynotlikethis: -
