@anon_opin I disagree because a) they can pick something they'll actually like, instead of something well-intentioned but useless because you have only a surface-level understanding of their hobby, and b) it's money that they have no choice but to spend on something fun. If you gave them cash, it would get absorbed into household expenses.

Getting someone gift cards or Amazon vouchers is the laziest gift ever. It's your way of saying "I don't think about you or know you well enough to think of a single item in existence you might like". Unless specifically asked for or with another gift, vouchers should be avoided.
