   @cody @raccoon now days you can also get fairly powerful Mini PCs that while less powerful than a full desktop are still potentially more powerful than a laptop, e.g. the Beelink SER7. Combine it with a portable display and you get a desktop that you can quickly grab and pack up when it's time to move.

     Just working security.
     Not even always the same ship so they can't buy a desktop to keep in their personal room, because there's no personal room. There's the room they use for a few months before coming back home.
     They make a lot of money but I would never do that.

     Not my case, but some people just move around so much that it would be useless to have a desktop.
     Some of my colleagues spend almost more time out at sea than at home.

     It makes me a little happy when people think of laptops as "a less powerful, portable desktop, that is still more powerful than your phone" instead of "this is my main computer and it's the best"
     Like bitch no it's not get a desktop.
