   So there's an attempt to boycott and force Hoyolab, makes of Genshit Impact, to make more brown skinned characters
   
   What's getting into unhinged territory is that they have made a character skin color chart. What's worse is that the games do have more dark skinned characters, but they're just "not dark enough"

     @coolboymew Well I do think it makes sense to have a bit of representation, but like… Do you really want *China* to do it? Makes way more sense to have it in your more local medias.
     
     And I think mainstream media (be it TV or Twitter/Youtube) just can't help but take politics which would require careful nuance and just drive it into the ground into something completely stupid.
     Representations do matter, but not as in quantity as bad representations are the worst you could have, like just imagine if Genshin Impact would do some horribly stereotyped character in response to this boycott attempt (even though I really doubt an actual boycott would really happen).

     My official opinion about "representation" is that, does "it matters"? Yes, but just a little, and the current advocacy for it is complete horseshit, completely misses the point and are too ideologically driven to understand that perhaps it's not something you should be demanding out of China of all places
     
     The problem with it here is that it's been completely self destructive to the level where practically everything its touched has been complete dogshit, on top of being extremely ideologically compromised. Instead of just having cool black/gay/etc charas you get unironic, unlikable, undercover brother type of characters that should be parodies but aren't and everyone is berated for not liking it
     
     On Gamefaqs, pointing out that people has pattern recognition and that people have definitively noticed that anything pushed or shown as very diverse is often really bad, and that doesn't end up benefitting anyone, is a moddable offense BTW

     @Big_Richard @lanodan there's an article around where Japanese animators were complaining because the American branch was asking them to make the black charas lips and nose bigger or somethig like that, with the animators pushing back because it wouldn't look good, characters needs to look consistent

     It's clear that there's some form of shame around, of not having a big great history and figures (Thomas Sowell talked about that) you probably wouldn't have the hotep, bethoveen (SP, on cell) is black, and etc without it, but the main problem is that the retards and bad actors took over, making all of this way way worse
