I'm European and the entire concept of HOAs seems so fucking absurd to me. Why would you buy a house with the caveat that some old farts can fine you for having your grass 1mm too tall? Anything like it would be straight up illegal here.

I'm a commie so Georgism isn't the desired outcome for me but it would be a hell of a lot better than the current system of property -

But every implementation I've seen thus far (which has actually been implemented) has failed in detail due to ultimately internal factors so it ends up being a very hard sell. -

It's a basic necessity like food and water and also healthcare which should be free as well. It's a fucking disgrace there are literally more vacancies than homeless people, with the only reason being money hungry capitalists looking to flip and landlords. Speculation should be. completely stamped out. -

And I don't mean this in a vulgar "in America, even the poor own refrigerators and color TVs" way, I mean when there aren't arbitrary blockers for productive activity, productive activity tends to happen and society as a whole tends to be better off for it. For similar reasons, I oppose means-tested welfare systems, as the value judgement of whether someone is "deserving" or not tends to lead to worse outcomes in the long term. -

We are wrecking the planet with unbound consumerism and social inequality is ravaging society. It's very far from successful if you ask me.
