     @MagicLike@mstdn.social @iro_miya@mk.absturztau.be @adiz@soc0.outrnat.nl What the hell do you mean, there's large holes at the top and bottom of the front panel. There's also a fan hole above the CPU, these slots are like 10 times bigger than the average air intake on a laptop.
     
     You know most PCs didn't have large front air intakes when CD drives were still a common thing? Because every pc needed a 3 fan front mounted liquid cooling radiator that seems to the norm nowadays.

     Your average PC really doesn't need more than the stock cooler and a single exhaust fan.

     @MagicLike@mstdn.social @iro_miya@mk.absturztau.be @adiz@soc0.outrnat.nl My gaming pc has a AMD Ryzen 5 3600X, I have not encountered any reason to get something better. This really is good enough to run any game that I wish to play while rendering and encoding videos on the side.
     
     I also want to remind you that my main computer that I do most of my work on is a Thinkpad X200 from 2009.

     @SuperDicq @iro_miya @adiz Yes I know - "Gaming" Laptops are also a cooling nightmare. Yes they work, but due to space limitations their cooling system may even be slightly underspeced or results into the case heating up significantly. Also when CD drives were commin the hardware did not draw as much power as some components today do, thus resulting into less heat. Yes such cases like yours work, but are not ideal. Especially if you compare them to ones with mesh at the front.

     @MagicLike@mstdn.social @iro_miya@mk.absturztau.be @adiz@soc0.outrnat.nl I guess with older hardware the operating temperature was more of a constant. Computers were just always hot with not much delta between idle and full load
