The about section mentions 45 posts across 6 blogs. How do I see and read any of those?

I don't know how write freely works but I'm stubborn enough to try and figure things out with a little guidance.

@NaClKnight i'm glad you're stubborn enough to try. the /read page should have most everything if you keep going through the pages, but posts from blogs that are marked as "unlisted" (user controlled) or pinned to a user's page will not be shown there. currently there are only two user blogs that have any true material, and that's mine /forrest and /DigiVogayer ( @DigiVoyager), the later of which pinned his grear piece on Pakistan for some reason (accident maybe).

@buru5 Ok i think this gets at what i was looking for. From first glance i couldn't see how to get my blog to appear on /read.
Knowing that pinned posts won't appear on the recent blog post feed is one step
Knowing that i need to ensure my blog is set to public is another.

One question about content:
Can i assume the regular rules for NSFW apply?
No underage, no gore, no nonconsensual sex, etc?
I wanna throw some of my fiction samples up on my blog but need to know what is or isn't welcome there. I don't think i saw a NSFW policy.

so, conclusion: there's not much material yet since this instance is in its infant stage.
i put together a "Getting Started" post that outlines some of this and other little nuances about the platform. the main draw of using this platform is to have a personal blog (without a character limit) that is federated and away from the big-blog bros like WordPress / Blogger / etc. which i feel are moving toward more ai jank. you can have 2 blogs per user as well, with 2 /name

this is a much harder question for me than you probably realize.
since the instance is still in its infancy and i don't like the idea of stifling anyone's creativity, i haven't written out a NSFW policy.
i imagine there probably should be some sort of NSFW policy, but what that should be is the hard part.
i am inclined to think, if your writing is NSFW (explicit sex stuff), then that writing should not be publicly listed for the reader page -- and that's about it.

@buru5 Yeah, I'm talking about excerpts from a larger story that has sex scenes, rather than a work whose entire function is to arouse the reader.
At the very minimum, it's "a plot a with occasional porn in it" rather than "porn with a plot"
If you're curious/interested, I am happy to start that second blog, keep it unlisted, and post an example or two of what I'm talking about so you can take a look.
For now though, I'm gonna post something much more tame to the main blog as a trial.

@NaClKnight but really, what are we talking about? is the work purely sex stuff? like erotica? if that's not the only focus (for example, it's a fictional story that INCLUDES some explicit sex stuff) then i would not really consider that explicit by any means. this is really weird territory for me, as i've written some gore stuff (there's a gory passage in my recent RCT piece, for example). it's troubling to quantify this stuff for me.

in this scenario, since you can have 2 blogs, you could have a pure NSFW one that is unlisted and just share the material elsewhere via links etc?

@NaClKnight cool, keep it on your main blog for now. i'll think about this a bit more.
to me, there's obviously a difference between NSFW images and writing. imo, writing is far more artistic and meaningful (terrible way to put this, sorry, lack of better words right now) than, say, a picture of a nude dude/lady. i will likely end up putting a NSFW policy in if the work includes sexual images (unlisted or ban), and of course outright BAN anyone who posts illegal stuff.

1) I think I almost fully appreciate the complexities of this problem. The internet is weird about sex, especially right now. There are legal nuances and requirements I'm not fully aware of, but I at least understand the scale and scope.
2) I'm flexible as well. I did a lot of my early writing on DeviantArt & got used to writing around their (frequently unenforced on literature) NSFW policies.
HDYSC is young/small enough that I'm excited to be part of the policy/content conversations.

I've read your work before. This kind of nuanced, in-depth consideration of what at first glimpse looks like an easy question or observation is like, standard operating procedure.

nice prose too. stuff like "and her magical staff trailed a precession of bubbles with each swing." is simple, unpretentious (opposite of my writing lol), and shows a good grasp of vocabulary and form.

I'm happy to be a fiction writer on this new venture.
Writing a fight, especially one with superhuman elements, is likely the hardest/worst way to portray what is a deeply visual exp, so i try hard to focus on actions, effects, thoughts, and broader flow/momentum instead of the minutiae of any given technique.
I might think about the mechanics and utility of a jab vs a cross vs a hook but my audience definitely doesn't.

If you're the type to plan everything out, only do so in rough sketches.
My best world building, world mechanics, and character relationships have all come halfway thru my first draft of whatever I was writing.
I've accepted that any planning i do before actual writing is just to hash out general concepts/characters and get over the fear of starting a new story.

@NaClKnight i've always had this idea to write a sci-fi novel bubbling up in my brain, and i told myself i was going to start it this year but got sidetracked making magazines instead, lol. outside of reading a bunch of sci-fi (which i've been slack on, i read more non-fiction nowadays), your style is helpful in seeing how someone else might do it.

@NaClKnight will do it, for sure. just a matter of timing. if i'm not spending time with my family or working, i'm writing something or doing something with the intention of writing about that something; so, i just need to get my priories in order. regarding outlines, i used to outline absolutely everything i wrote beforehand, but have stopped doing that. now i take vague (usually paper) notes to jot my memory later. i get too boxed in with an outline; like you, my best stuff "just happens."
