You can overpay several times to keep in industry working, but not a thousand times. Clearly a lot of theft is going on there. Same with the FTX fraud of Ukraine money. If you see the collapse on the horizon so do they, and they're grabbing all they can.

Their host country would also be able to extract a large amount of the wealth through import tax, or all sorts of taxes. Their host country can also just outright kill them and keep 100%.
I don't know what kind of deal will have to be made, but just having these traitors dead is for me reward in itself.

They would certainly make exceptions for people with billions of dollars, but this isn't 500 years ago, there isn't tons of just unused forest where you can let the weirdos with cash set up, and then also keep an eye on them.

I think about this a lot too. Make deals with countries like New Zealand to extradite these criminals back to the west for justice. They can keep X% of the money stolen and returned. It shouldn't be much though. Alternative will be nuking every square inch of the haven country. Actually, don't make it a deal. Make it a threat.

Certainly a lot of if not everyone from the nomenklatura could manage the lower estimate, and when it comes to living hunted in a post-collapse society vs comfy upper-middle-class far away, the choice is obvious.
