   @arcana @affine @allison @apophis It is demonstrably wrong by the sheer prevalence of parallel invention & discovery, as well as just how /many/ of the inventions supposedly invented by one single person later turned out to just have been literally stolen from someone else (with some having that happen multiple times) that sucked at making themselves notorious/known (sometimes intentionally).

     @lispi314 @apophis @arcana @affine I think that's presuming a kind of required originality that isn't inherent to great man theory, but that being said, I still hold the strong version of great man theory to be very suspect because of the reasons you just listed (along with one or two others)
