   Since it's election year for many places, I thought a reminder is in order.

   I think by now you'd have enough information to know who to vote for. And if you don't, you don't need to follow the "horse race" blow-by-blow 24/7 #news cycle to "stay informed". In this post I share what I do to manage this and why it's important to stop this addiction to news.

     @liztai I have had a similar experience over the years. Better sleep after quitting, and making an effort to get off devices entirely a couple hours before sleep. I still do docos, podcasts and books, and read indie blog posts via careful curated RSS, but even then I'm fairly selective now.

     I feel less of a need to have an opinion on everything too as I know its mainly temporary noise. Gives me more time and energy for other things, and I get into deeper and more constructive conversation.

     @mpace965 I wrote it during the pandemic when Malaysia's politics was really insane and we had a coup and everything so I empathise a lot with Americans!

     @ubi quit twitter too and I am glad I did. When I pop back in to check on Cdrama news I am always amazed how angry everyone is about the stupidest things 😅

     @liztai I quit twitter and my mental health felt so much better. I wasted so much time in 2020 since we had nothing better to do during the lockdowns. It really stressed me out.

     This week I was listening to my co workers argue very passionately about the latest twitter issue, Olympic clothing design and mufti's opinions on childfree couples, and I realised how useless a lot of this news actually is. It just exists to rile people up and misdirect their energy to frivolous subjects.
