@DamonWakes @gdeyke this feels like it could be akin to SuperHot's "ticks only pass when you move" mechanic

I could see this being a horror game with a strong "navigating in the dark" premise and the lurking threat of unseen dangers. Though how to have any chance of reacting between perceiving the dangers and being devoured by them is something of an issue.

Damon L. Wakes (damonwakes@mastodon.sdf.org)'s status on Tuesday, 02-Jul-2024 03:39:20 JST Damon L. Wakes @gdeyke I think it would be annoying and frustrating no matter what: the trick would be to make that a feature. Another concern would be having the optimum strategy involve playing blind at least some of the time, to avoid it simply being a regular FPS that requires the player to keep spamming the trigger button to see. Limited "ammo" might help there.

G. Deyke (gdeyke@wandering.shop)'s status on Tuesday, 02-Jul-2024 03:39:21 JST G. Deyke @DamonWakes a camera or an extremely faulty torch that turns off immediately after turning on would be the way to go, I think. The tricky bit would be getting the gameplay to work and also not be really annoying and frustrating.

Damon L. Wakes (damonwakes@mastodon.sdf.org)'s status on Tuesday, 02-Jul-2024 03:39:22 JST Damon L. Wakes @gdeyke Unfortunately I've just remembered that I also challenged myself not to put guns in games this year - but remind me in January!
Alternatively, it could involve shooting ~with a camera~ and the flash would be the reason you get a new frame.

You have to pull the trigger to get a new frame.
