     While technically accurate is not a faithful translation.

     “Thou shall not murder” is the more accurate translation and many crimes throughout the Bible (including murder) are considered to be capital crimes for which the death penalty is prescribed.

     This meme is nonsense.

     @Jagahati To give them benefit they may have posted it for storytime/make believe hour in class. Either way, "prescribing" the death penalty isn't too far from a child's rationale of thinking if I destroy/throw something away it's gone or never happened, when the crime which left a real victim, absolutely exists. You could make the case for imprisoning for life among the worst of the worst (like a pedo) is worse bc the inmates will endlessly pummel, torture or kill him unless he kills himself.

     @ZeroSum06 So as a Christian I want all people to have a chance to find Jesus, but this chance shouldn’t stand in the way of earthly justice. Exactly what this justice entails in a democracy/republic/parliamentary system are laws enacted by the legislature as voted in and approved by the public.

     Of course this whole discussion dodges the burning hot hypocrisy of many who find themselves against the death penalty, yet somehow pro abortion.

     @Jagahati That justice could mean a wrongful conviction or a wrongful acquittal. It could mean the death penalty. It could mean life in prison. It could mean house arrest. Capital punishment and abortion are 2 different issues. No need to conflate.
