@arcana @kaia @shibao
- dumb protectionist laws (banning food truck cooking because some restaurant mogul needed protection from capitalism)
- police protects school shooters
- failed to winterize power supply, "muh free market" even though there is an oversight board and nobody on the board even lives here
- won't harden the utilities even though they keep going down in storms
- bussing illegals everywhere
- trying to ban porn "for muh kids" and suing porn companies even though this is literally not a problem especially considering, you know, people literally die to government negligence but we're suing the porn corps and not the energy companys for some god damn reason-

@icedquinn@blob.cat @arcana@fedi.layer02.net @kaia@brotka.st it turned into florida with the governor basically using power and money to go after every little social justice cause that he was infatuated with that week kinda
basically move to texas if you're a normie who likes big government in your daily life and wants to support the current (dumb gop) thing! -

What's this about:
> failed to winterize power supply, "muh free market"
#Texas at this point seems like it's not bad enough a state to leave, but not good enough a state to move to

@icedquinn @kaia @arcana @shibao Is the energy infrastructure in #Texas so bad that that happens to everyone who lives there?

@teknomunk TX uses some bullshit called ERCOT that basically farms out responsibility for the grid to contractors. so more or less the state owned facilities (whatever is left of them) are mothballed and they leave it up to an energy market.
what happened is people started noting that cold fronts were happening, and that people running the windmills and shit should take active measures to reinforce against it. they collectively laundered an excuse that they didn't need to because some global warming expert said it was ok to ignore the critical temperatures because "idk the sims say it will be hotter or something."
so they weren't forced to do it (muh free market) so they didn't, the devices failed, and it turned out nobody remembered how to unmothball any of the other shit, and the biden admin was playing fucksy not allowing them to turn on the coal burners because "muh climate targets." they basically said just import it from nearby grids at extortionate rates instead, which happened for a little while, until the load was so heavy they basically turned the burners on anyway to avoid a total blackout
investigation and peeking at that whole thing after the fact showed it was a cacophony of outsourcing and bullshit, to the point the ERCOT staff were actually all foreigners or some bullshit

Unless I am mistaken, electricity is a government enforced and controlled monopoly and quasi-government organization. Every "utility" is this, at least in the US.
Attributing the failures of such an arrangement on "the free market" is extremely dishonest. So par for government. -

@teknomunk @arcana @kaia @shibao meanwhile the AG is helping turn the state in to a data harvesting hell suing porn companies, while the water service fails for a minimum of 3 days a year, the power collapses in a rainstorm, cops don't cop, and NGOs dump illegals off at the whataburger by the busload.
but, yeah, seeing a tiddy will traumatize the kids forever. that's why we gotta show em what fer :blobcatgooglybadumtss:
