@PurpCat@latein@waltercool Cool link, thank you Imagine a world where idiots are poor because they overpay for technology, and smart people that hate scalping are rich because their car only costs a third of the average to run!
@WandererUber@latein@waltercool there are madlads having to fight all the layers of vendor bullshit just to make their EV last longer, the same kind of people who build crackhead ebikes in a basement.
@waltercool@latein This type of nonsense is so common on the right (or people who doubt the official narrative) Lithium batteries do not go to landfill, they are recycled. I don't understand why people think they don't last. They do. See pic.
I pulled a lithium polymer battery out of a drawer in a cold basement, where it sat for 3 years. It was deep discharged to <2.5v per cell. I use it in a high-current application and it works fine. Please stop believing every piece of FUD about batteries you read in passing online.
Lithium extraction does pollute, but it doesn't "make almost same pollution" as ICE cars. That's literally impossible, because that pollution is climate active gasses and toxins in the air (discounting oil spills here) which lithium batteries do not emit. Lithium extraction has some toxic byproducts, yes. As does every other industry. This talking point is so tired and I don't understand why people always go "oh what Lithium mining pollutes somewhat? I guess we should stick to what we always had instead of trying to improve things."
I have no love for climate hucksters and their commie nonsense, but I ask you to PLEASE look at the technology you're bashing. Don't disregard it because modern leftists pretend to be pushing it. Take a neutral standpoint and learn about it. EVs can save some people a shitton of money right now, as can solar and wind. Sorry for the long-winded rant.
@latein I like the idea of EV, it's just we don't have the enough technology right now for that.
- Lithium batteries in overall go to landfill after 5-7 years. EV batteries costs almost a new car. - Lithium batteries suck with cold and hot weather. My electric longboard have reduced autonomy in winter and summer, like 1/4 less autonomy. - EV and modern cars are privacy hell, Tesla cars are no exception. - Graphene batteries and fuel cells are not ready for civilian use. Fuel cells are very promising for longevity. - EV are weak to magnetic fields, anyone can eventually disable entirely your car, but modern cars are not much different. - Lithium extraction and manufacturing makes almost same pollution of a modern oil car after 6-8 years.
@fluffy The only reason to dislike Elon Musk is because he is a wealthy technocrat, XIX century market liberal, and that kind of people usually think their ideas lead to prosperity regardless of the consequences.
XIX market liberal ideas kinda worked and gave more freedoms to people and economic independence from landlords... but those ideas weren't perfect, they poisoned waters, cities were polluted, converted farms into manufacturing industries and overall the "new enlightened people" brought Marxism/Fascism ideologies to society.
@waltercool I've always had a “hotdog water” opinion of Musky: he's a decent business and obviously a nerd and a troll, but he's just (((rich))) and that's why people know who he is.
When I first heard of “grimes” it was in the context that she didn't release lyrics because she was “experimenting with voice as an instrument” as if that's not what music is.
So when I say that this legal document sounds like a joke from the something awful forums, read that document in this voice.
@WandererUber@latein@waltercool people have built and sell controllers to reuse junkyard tesla crashed motors in other vehicles now and sell them openly online because tesla owners only have 4 brain cells after trying to watch furry porn with autopilot on and crashing it
@PurpCat@latein@waltercool me and the boys are going to live like kings in our compound using 30kW solar arrays that some rich faggot threw away because a microcontroller in the inverted had a glitch that broke the connection to his smartphone app
