Tools that "randomize your browser fingerprint" make you easier to track.

Walk into a shop every day with different random clown makeup so they can't track your purchases? Sure, it changes, but you're identifiable by the fact that hardly anyone wears clown makeup!

@ryanc Plus there's a ton of ways to fingerprint a browser (or get the same information from a different source, like navigator.appVersion instead of the User-Agent header).

To continue on the clown analogy, even if you'd get a group of friends to wear random makeup… you're probably not changing all your recognisable traits, after it's possible to recognise friends with different makeup/haircut/… or even full on cosplay.

@lanodan Right, narrows the set of possible matches for stuff like gait analysis, height, weight, etc.

@computersandblues Better addressed by using ad blocker that prevents them from logging anything in the first place.

@ryanc doesn't that depend on the attack scenario? my main worry is that my user profile ends up in one the tracking databases of commercial surveillance merchants. they are not going to put up a post-it that someone with an unusual fingerprint may just be me and to double-check for non-changing attributes, but create a new profile because that's way cheaper and good enough for their main use-case
