There were a couple of cyclists injured after getting onto the motorway at Falkirk, and another group escorted off the motorway at the same place a couple of days later. To me, it looks like a combo of visitors to the area and a particular issue with routing or signage. Whatever happened, it was clearly a terrible mistake. The comments I've seen about the incident are horrific. There are lots of efforts to get folk cycling, but none to change driver perceptions about cyclists. #BikeTooter

They clearly got it wrong and shouldn't have been there, but contrast the reporting of it and reaction to the story, with the fairly regular reporting of car drivers getting themselves into the wrong place. They are presented as being fairly uniquely incompetent and nothing like the norm. One cyclist does something daft, and they're presented as being representative of all cyclists. -

Peter Brown (peterbrown@mastodon.scot)'s status on Thursday, 13-Jun-2024 00:09:06 JST Peter Brown @CloudyMrs funny you should mention it, but motorways are the only roads built with an integrated cycle lane. So maybe cyclists should be allowed on motorways, on the hard shoulder?
