   @thomasfuchs Also a fan of the Golden Delicious, Fuji and Honey Crisp are what I tend toward. Both are quite crisp texture-wise which I like.

     For eating raw: Mutsu aka Crispin
     best with peanut butter or almond butter

     For baking and cooking: of course Cortland is the best, because it's the only apple that actually melts under heat

     @thomasfuchs we mostly buy honeycrisp because that’s what the kids will actually eat, but gala is also very nice and widely available. It’s less sweet than honeycrisp and has a nice crispness. Fuji are also good.

     @thomasfuchs how has no one mentioned Cox's Orange Pippins, the king of apples? Russets can be tasty too. Both harder to find nowdays. Not a Golden Delicious fan at all I have to say so you may not agree.
