Bread up, Bro (sickburnbro@poa.st)'s status on Tuesday, 11-Jun-2024 22:33:05 JST Bread up, Bro @gentoobro yeah. I would assume they would monitor conditions leading to this unless it was a sudden collapse though. -

Bread up, Bro (sickburnbro@poa.st)'s status on Tuesday, 11-Jun-2024 22:40:51 JST Bread up, Bro @VikingWays @gentoobro from what I've seen it actually broke open, then fell completely in a few hours, so not *that* fast.
But given how much is done to stop avalanches, I'm positive there are ways to monitor soil pack as well. -

VikingWays (vikingways@poa.st)'s status on Tuesday, 11-Jun-2024 22:40:52 JST VikingWays @sickburnbro @gentoobro Thousands of miles of road, there is no way people are able to monitor this in a remote area like Wyoming. Sure if it's gradual, but that looks like a quick collapse. -

Bread up, Bro (sickburnbro@poa.st)'s status on Wednesday, 12-Jun-2024 09:26:38 JST Bread up, Bro @gentoobro @VikingWays well, my thought being that if the road hadn't fully collapsed by the time the media was there you can probably add another 4-8 hours on to it. So probably took half a day minimum since ordinary people knew it was bad news. -

gentoobro (gentoobro@gleasonator.com)'s status on Wednesday, 12-Jun-2024 09:26:39 JST gentoobro @sickburnbro @VikingWays "A few hours" is basically instantaneous in a lot of areas out there. It might take over an hour to simply get the closest cop to drive out and block off the road, much less an engineer, much less a road crew equipped to actually do anything about it.
