     Don't be too hard your self. You may want to Google lists of male baby names from various European cultures and go through them until one sticks. Then let that name make the character. Let it him write himself.

     Also, if you don't own a copy already, buy this. It addresses 99% of the most common grammar issues with only being 100th the size of the Chicago Manual. You really should have both, but Strunk has always been my first go to. I'll only break out Chicago if the issue isn't addressed in Strunk.
