     @DMA @graf it sounds like that is not a law in Oregon? I'm not sure the cop can be blamed, if the stupid politicians legalize depravity.

     The police can only enforce the laws that exist (and this is a good thing, in general, since otherwise you'd have people with badges, guns, and handcuffs--and qualified immunity--running around doing whatever they want).

     Why wouldn't the officer arrest and let the DA or the court determine if it was for sexual gratification? That's really not his call. The father should have executed a citizens arrest if available. It is here in California, and it forces the officer to effectuate the arrest and forward the matter to the DA.

     It's really hit or miss.
     
     When I was young, my buddy's neighbor would call the police on us constantly when we were kicking it. Those cops were cool. They'd fight about who'd get the call, because we'd feed them burgers or steaks, etc.
     
     I've also been pulled out of my car on false pretenses. So yeah. Fuck cops like that.
     
     I've also seen videos of local pd pulling the "you aren't from around here, so what you're going to do is get on that freeway and drive away, or I'm going to look into this further" when hoodlums were coming into town to cause trouble during the George Floyd protests (they had ski masks, gloves, etc.). I can appreciate that.

     Not where I am. It's a bedroom community. Cops are local and very protective of their neighborhoods. One city over, and you'd be right.

     Police force is no different than any other organization.
     
     There are really good cops and there are really bad cops.
