Asking smart folks I follow here on #Podcasting (@dave @adam @js@podcastingindex.social, @james) or others: is there a service that now bests estimates ALL listener analytics and data for podcast episodes across all platforms? I've bumped into Chartable and Podtrac and others, but not clear to me that any one really definitively gets traffic and listener data in aggregate well. (Chartable seems to be just Spotify and Apple)... Does that aggregate solution just not exist? Is it being built via Podcasting 2.0?

Op3, podtrac, etc. will give you download stats for platforms that support "pass through" (Spotify does). Platforms like YouTube do not support that, so there's no way for Op3/Podtrac/etc to see those numbers.

You'll never get "listener" metrics outside of closed systems like Spotify/Apple/Amazon since they have first party play data and everyone else just has raw http download numbers.

Hey Tim, Podcasting 2 is working on a universal solution called ActivityStreams. So at an individual level I can see what I played, listen time, %completed and value paid. This is a drill down on the verb 'PLAY'. But the ActivityStream has 30 verbs - share, boost, clip, follow, buy etc. The goal is to share this aggregated data from all users to podcast creators. We also are planning to allow users to share this data with their social accounts via ActivityPub. -

We need to collaborate and share this data. But to be clear hosts do not have this data. They will thus keep pushing legacy metrics like downloads. Spotify, YouTube can share this first party data with Advertisers and Creators already today. If we don't offer an alternative open 'first party' solution then we lose to these close proprietary platforms as they fix the problem of reporting to advertisers.
