     I used Gphotos and have never heard of this feature. Google has a lot of these out of the way things that are just not part of a coherent strategy. I envy them for their freedom to try out a lot of stuff and see what sticks. Sucks when they drop some of them though, if I happen to be someone who incorporated the feature into what I use.

     @kingrat relatedly I got some email notices from google which forward to my non-google email about some data for a feature of google photos (“face groups”) being deleted if I don’t login and use google photos. AFAIK the only time I’ve used google photos is to look at images shared with me by others and I have no data of my own in it. I also had never heard of “face groups” which again I don’t think I’ve ever used.
