   every other month I accidentally touch the ThinkPad screen and get reminded it's a touch screen for no reason - cannot be folded at all.

     @kaia@brotka.st I would've just disabled it in BIOS, just like any other feature on my work Thinkpad that I don't use like the trackpad or bluetooth or camera.

     @lulu@hachyderm.io @kaia@brotka.st I think especially in cars this is terrible. In any car with physical buttons and knobs you can operate the climate control and radio and such without taking your eyes of the road.
     
     But in modern cars the entire dashboard is just a giant iPad with no feedback except visual whatsoever.

     I really don't understand why we decided as a species to develop our input hardware in the direction of "aim and touch" rather than investing more in physical keyboards. Having to coordinate eyes and fingers is much slower and less accurate than relying on muscle memory with a fixed layout and tactile feedback.

     However as a pedestrian you should probably be a lot more scared of a Cybertruck than a Mazda Miata.

     it's not even a button, it's a upwards and downwards gesture you have to do on the screen, which makes it even worse
     
     i just can't imagine the frustration if you have to do this 20 times to park in a tight spot

     @kaia idk. I'm buying refurbished dell's with touchscreen just because they have gorilla glass - hard to scratch, and easy to clean, so i just can safety use my clothes to clean it up
