Me (showing off my new dog to my father-in-law).
Him: 'He's beautiful.'
Me: 'She.'
Him: 'She's beautiful.'
Me: (making a joke) 'It's okay, she's not picky about her pronouns.'
Him: (triggered) 'Oh jeez, here we go. Everyone's got pronouns all of the sudden.'

This exchange got me thinking. The right is conditioned to be triggered by words. Words and phrases like 'identify as' and 'pronouns' trigger them, even though the concept of having a preferred pronoun isn't lost on them. 🤔

Partially, but I was taken aback by the fact that he didn't know everyone had ALWAYS had pronouns. I think people forgot we learned about pronouns in middle school and I didn't expect the word alone to trigger him so much. -
