   So, with all the major platforms going to $h1t as they chase the AI hype $$ dragon...

   How safe is the stuff we post on #mastodon from data scraping?

   I mean, I think there's probably no way to safeguard against it at this point, but for now I don't feel great about posting eg. WIP lyrics and stuff like that on meta platforms, seeing as they have made it clear they WILL be scraping all your posts.

     @thesilenceindustry it's not safe. There's 24,000 instances here that can be doing fuck knows what with your posts. If you're so scared of your public posts being seen and used, don't post publicly on the internet at all. Period.

     There are instances dedicated for collecting posts for various reasons, from newsfeed to analyzing hate speech on the internet.
     And since there are pedos and neo-nazis on feddiverse, i'm quite admit that glowies are also here, watching and listening.

     @lonelyowl @BeAware I mean, fair enough.

     It would be nice if we lived in a world where those 2 aforementioned groups could be singled out for suppression, and everything else wasn't in the process of enshittification, but we don't and I guess that is what it is.
