@AnthonyFStevens @Theriac @Wen @soren No, it was not. Origin was never the issue, and I have no idea how you jumped to that conclusion. There are loads of elected representatives who originated elsewhere in the world, never mind just the UK. People who have never been to a place for more than a visit aren't qualified to represent constituents. Why would a party need to resort to that tactic if qualified local candidates are available?
@AnthonyFStevens @Wen @Theriac @soren really poor arguments. If there is a strong and vibrant Scottish Labour membership, why are those members not making the cut? If there isn't, do you really think it matches the media narrative that Labour is going to win big in Scotland.

I've lived in Manchester all my life, & the first time I & thousands of others knew the worker bee was the symbol of our great City, was after the Manchester Arena bombing. Does that make us any less Mancunian or committed to our City?
You could quite easily disbar me from running for public office because I didn't know this fact. How far dya want to drill down into local knowledge/history being a deal maker for political representatives? An exam?
@AnthonyFStevens @Theriac @CloudyMrs @soren Origin is only being raised in the context of knowledge about their constituency and Scotland. You might buy into the ‘Anti-English' schtick paraded in the media but we don’t - as is obvious in the Scottish parliament.
